Our Mobility Solution in Ile-de-France

The solution developed by the Market Pay – Thales – Wizway Solutions consortium allows residents of the Île-de-France region to have their tickets and Navigo cards directly on their Android smartphones.

This Smart Navigo project integrates Market Pay’s mobile ticketing solution, including the “Top-up” module for reloading transport tickets. The solution developed by the consortium is available within the ViaNavigo app by Île-de-France Mobilités.

“Through this digital mobility solution, UGAP continues its approach to integrating innovative solutions. To launch this decentralized service, the central purchasing office relied on three providers and coordinated their efforts to offer Mobility Organizing Authorities a unified national contractual framework.”
Olivier Rougetet, Head of the Mobility Marketing Department at UGAP.

“Since most of our region’s residents own a smartphone, it was essential to adapt to these digital habits! The stakes are high: virtualizing physical transport tickets and enabling their management with a single click via a smart device. To meet this challenge, we relied on UGAP’s expertise and its packaged solution, supported by three innovative companies—Market Pay, Thales, and Wizway Solutions—each contributing their specific expertise to this complex project.”
Anne-Laure Ramey, Intermodalities, Services, and Marketing Department at IDF Mobilités.

Since September 2019, residents and visitors in the Paris region can bypass vending machines and ticket offices, reloading their transport tickets anytime and anywhere. For validation, it's even simpler—users just tap their smartphones on the validators in buses, metros, trams, and RER trains. Additionally, the system provides reading and writing functions for Navigo cards directly within Android smartphones.

As part of this project with Île-de-France Mobilités, Market Pay provided its Android SDK and SaaS mobile platform, which was integrated with Île-de-France Mobilités’ ticketing server using the Calypso standard. Our SDK is also embedded in the applications of key transport partners—RATP, Transdev, and SNCF—to enable ticket reloading.

Our teams supported app developers, ensuring all requested use cases were feasible by providing high-level APIs. IDFM projected 560,000 active users of the service by the end of 2021, with approximately 1.5 million installed users.

Listed in the French state’s central purchasing catalog (UGAP), this solution is available to all local governments and municipalities without requiring a dedicated public tender. By choosing this solution, transport authorities directly benefit from economies of scale and the technical maturity of Île-de-France Mobilités' deployment.
