Vincent TOURAINE: Innovative and versatile payment solutions for merchants and major brands, that's what Market Pay offers, which is managed and represented today by Isabelle CLAIRAC, hello.

Isabelle CLAIRAC: Hello Vincent.

VT: So you are the CEO of Market Pay, thank you for being with us in Focus PME. You are a specialist in payment platforms, what exactly are we talking about?

IC: First of all, what is payment? It's simple, you're in a store, you enter, you pay with your card. Or you are on a website and you enter your payment details and pay. It's easy when it works well. I think it doesn't always work and you like me have been discouraged by the long lines at the checkout. You feel like leaving the store because you are sent across the entire sales floor to get to a checkout a payment that doesn't work. So beyond the fact that it's a big pain for the retailer, because it's a direct loss of turnover, we can see that it's a key element in the customer's journey, that the retailer can offer to his customers. So we offer omnichannel payment platforms to support the development of our merchants' business.

VT: And you're going to tell us a little bit more about it. You say that you bridge the gap between physical and digital retailers.

IC: Yes, because our payment solutions are available for stores, for websites and mobile applications, but we can see that with the Covid period, the digitalization of stores has accelerated, click-and-collect, etc. All this is now becoming commonplace and it is imperative to offer merchants the possibility of seeing all their transactions in one place, whether it is on the Internet, in collection or directly in the store. But we go further because we have brought digital to the store because now we propose to transform your cell phone into a payment terminal on the product we call PayWish® and so you can accompany your customer on the sales floor, avoiding them to travel miles, combining mobility, and that without logistics and without terminal. It's an application to be downloaded on the phone.

VT: So much for what you do, your business. You were created in 2016, a recent company. Your headquarters are in Paris. You have 200 employees and already 2.5 billion transactions. Who do you cater to, who are your clients specifically?

IC: Well, I think you've already understood, it's mostly merchants. We already have some great international and European brands. But we also address national merchants to offer them appropriate solutions and what we want to do is simplify access and use of electronic payments for merchants. And we want to prepare them for the future. Usage is changing, has changed a lot in the last twenty years and will continue to do so. We also want to prepare them for the future, so that they can take care of their business.

VT: You have experienced strong growth in the last few years, how do you explain this?

IC: Indeed, 2.5 billion transactions, we have 8,000 points of sale, 45,000 Eftpos terminals, several dozen websites... But I believe that our solutions meet a real market need and the fact that we have already done it for large merchants gives us a strong credibility on the market.

VT: Let's look ahead a little, and talk about your ambitions for the coming years. What is planned?

IC: What is planned in these times, which are quite hectic, I think it is essential to be agile and our PayWish® product in particular, reflects our DNA. Mobility, agility, while being robust and anchored on solutions that are industrial. What we want is to make it available to all merchants, large and small, on an international basis. What we want is to help merchants develop their business and at the same time be a reference platform in Europe and beyond.
